Dental Assistant Program
The Dental Assisting for Adults program at SoCal ROC provides entry-level training in dental assisting, designed for those looking to start a career in the field without prior experience. The program includes a focus on hands-on skills, covering essential aspects such as chairside assistance, sterilization, dental terminology, radiology, and dental office procedures, providing foundational skills needed for various dental settings.
Program Highlights
- Comprehensive Training
The curriculum emphasizes practical skills like tray setups, infection control, and radiology compliance. Students learn critical functions related to general dentistry, which includes identifying dental equipment and understanding ethical and procedural standards within the field. - Certification Opportunities
This program offers certifications in Dental Radiology Safety Compliance, the Dental Practice Act, and Infection Control, which are valuable for entry-level roles. Additionally, after accumulating 15 months and 1280 hours in a dental office, graduates can become eligible for the RDA exam by completing further courses in coronal polishing and pit and fissure sealants. - Career Pathways
Graduates often start in entry-level roles within general dental practice settings but may continue their education to advance in dental specialties. Successful completion of this program can open pathways to becoming a Registered Dental Assistant in Extended Functions, a Dental Hygienist, or even pursuing a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.
