Dental Assistant Program
The Baldy View ROP Dental Assisting Program is designed to prepare high school seniors and adult learners for a career in dental assisting, focusing on both clinical skills and technical knowledge. Through a combination of coursework and hands-on training, students are equipped to become chairside dental assistants and work towards licensure as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA).
Program Highlights
Students will gain direct experience through clinical internships in local dental practices, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, including digital radiography and CAD scanning units. This program emphasizes practical skills, such as infection control, radiography, and patient care, allowing students to develop a strong foundation in dental procedures and standards.
Program Structure
The program consists of 825 instructional hours, covering topics like dental terminology, communication skills, dental materials, preventive care, and basic chairside assisting techniques. In addition to classroom learning, students participate in clinical settings to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios. The program integrates common core and career technical education standards, ensuring students are well-rounded in communication, technology use, and problem-solving.
